The Gigabyte T1000P Netvertible is no different. You look for features that add value that differentiates one product from another product based on price, less any deal breakers or nasty surprises. I looked carefully for the presence of deal breakers before buying and afterwards I didn’t find any nasty surprises. Battery–ok, screen brightness–ok, sound–’not crappy’ (superior for a netbook), keyboard–nice, mouse–ok, screen resolution–superior, tablet mode–ok, video ok (superior for a netbook), connectors–superior, upgrade potential–superior. I liked the 1366×768 screen more than I thought I would. Ditto the Gigabyte T1000P Netvertible as an entertainment device due to the superior video and audio. The Gigabyte T1000P Netvertible is not a powerhouse but it’ll do more than most netbooks and mostly everything that you’ll want it to do within reason. Windows 7 starter is easier and cheaper to upgrade out of than xp and upgrading out of starter is something that you’ll want to do right off. The Gigabyte smartmanager is really dumb and in general Gigabyte could use some software love. However, all in all I’m really enjoying the Gigabyte T1000P Netvertible and I give it 5 stars as a best in class as it excels in enough areas to deserve 5 stars in my opinion. Frankly I think its worth the extra money for the other features even if you are ambivalent about multitouch/convertible/netvertible.

nice netvertible
Quick Summary. There are no perfect mobile devices, rather its all about trade-offs. The Gigabyte T1000P is no different. You look for features that add value that differentiates one product from another product based on price, less any deal breakers or nasty surprises. I looked carefully for the presence of deal breakers before buying and afterwards I didn't find any nasty surprises. Battery--ok, screen brightness--ok, sound--'not crappy' (superior for a netbook), keyboard--nice, mouse--ok, screen resolution--superior, tablet mode--ok, video ok (superior for a netbook), connectors--superior, upgrade potential--superior. I liked the 1366x768 screen more than I thought I would. Ditto the GigabyteT1000P as an entertainment device due to the superior video and audio. The GigabyteT1000P is not a powerhouse but it'll do more than most netbooks and mostly everything that you'll want it to do within reason. Windows 7 starter is easier and cheaper to upgrade out of than xp and upgrading out of starter is something that you'll want to do right off. The Gigabyte smartmanager is really dumb and in general Gigabyte could use some software love. However, all in all I'm really enjoying the T1000P and I give it 5 stars as a best in class as it excels in enough areas to deserve 5 stars in my opinion. Frankly I think its worth the extra money for the other features even if you are ambivalent about multitouch/convertible. Read on for more details.

Battery power. Heavy use--surfing the web and watching movies with the screen set on high, with wifi constantly on, and driving a small USB flash drive--the battery lasted 5 hrs. Light use--with the screen set at the lowest setting (which is bright enough for indoors), with wifi off, I was able to get just over 9 hrs.

Screen brightness. In a shady spot, or for an overcast day, the brightest screen setting is faded but acceptable which doesn't dazzle but was good news. On the other end of the spectrum, the lowest brightness setting or one or two notches above will work just fine in most low-light (non-fluorescent) indoor situations, which is to say in my opinion the setting doesn't go low enough, if you are like me and you surf the web or write late at night. Neither is there any kind of keyboard light or book light. The first is a bit disappointing in a mobile device though it might get taken care of rather easily by a software update sometime in the future. The lack of a keyboard light, or backlight or booklight are features that as far as I know no one else has to offer either.

Sound. The sound on the Gigabyte T1000P isn't spectacular--I want to say that right off--however for a netbook I have to say its pretty good. Though tinny, the Gigabyte T1000P demonstrates stereo separation, the speakers are on the front of the device and the volume is just loud enough to hear from the other side of the room when you have it turned up all the way. I actually had to turn the sound down a notch when listening to Hulu.

Additionally there are quite a few controls built in to help with the audio situation. For example, right out of the box I was picking up an annoying echo which was corrected by resetting the Realtek High Def Audio from 'auditorium' to 'carpeted room'. An audiophile will still hate the sound--on this or any other netbook--but for an ordinary person listening to a movie in a quiet room without the hassle of headphones or external speakers, the internal speakers on the Gigabyte T1000P, while not up to the quality of even the most basic of home computer systems, but they are nice for netbook speakers. Bluntly. Most netbook speakers are crappy and these internal speakers aren't crappy.

Keyboard. The chicklet style keyboard has very responsive keys which I liked a lot. They feel great. About the only minor complaint I have is the small right shift key. Other than that, the keyboard would be perfect. In fact, I rather like the feel of these keys over those of my full-size keyboard.

Mouse. The arrangement of the mouse keys takes some getting used to. All you have to do is look at their separation by the mouse 'smart pad' and you can see why that is. Its an odd right and left-click key position. While I quickly got used to using the mouse buttons with two hands, it took me longer to get used to using using the mouse one-handed. And I still struggle with clicking the mouse in the dark. I can see why Gigabyte did it the way they did it--to save space. However, again a little software update might make the hardware more palatable. The way the mouse keys are now, they are right below the alt keys and to either side of the space bar. Many of us use the space bar to scroll down, why not give us more programmable mouse options using the alt + mouse keys? A middle/scroll wheel emulator would be particularly welcome. I wouldn't mind trying an alt+ right-click for the left-click button too.

Screen resolution. The 1366x768 is very very nice. The higher resolution makes everything more crisp and gives you the potential to have more screen real estate. If you like bigger icons for instance you can always reset them but the crispness remains. 1366x768 is an HD resolution. To me this is one of the key features of this netbook. If someone doesn't like 1366×768 resolution, they can always turn it down. But to me the 1366x768 is nice.

Tablet mode. Yes it does that (switch to tablet mode I mean). And tablet mode is a nice feature. However the Gigabyte is more a production device than a tablet device in my opinion. If you have smaller icons, (so as to have more real estate), that means that the device becomes less touch friendly so its a trade off. There isn't any special mode-switching software to help with the production to touch transition. There isn't a mouse available in tablet mode on the T1000P frame to help with navigation. There isn't an accelerometer available to help switch positions from landscape to portrait mode and back. There isn't any software bundled with the device like a book reader or gps/maps that are designed for multi-touch (with one exception, the ritepen). The GigabyteT1000P in tablet mode works fine for what it is, but if you are comparing it to a stand-alone android or apple tablet device, the Gigabyte T1000P will come up short as the Gigabyte is not a dedicated tablet device. So if your of that mind, don't bother buying a netvertible.

With that said, the touchscreen seems responsive. You can switch orientation using a keyboard shortcut or the smart manager. Smart manager orientation switching is painful. Using the keyboard shortcut while easy is not intuitive and maybe I missed it but it doesn't seem to be in the literature. With some experimentation I found that ctr+alt+[your arrow keys] will change your orientation. So "ctr+alt+pgup/uparrow" for normal landscape from any orientation; ctr+alt+home/leftarrow will switch to portrait mode from any orientation. I would suggest to Gigabyte that they put a sticker on the unit showing the shortcut key orientation (just a small transparent one like their multi-touch sticker) as they already have been panned in some reviews for their 'smart manager'. It might also be a good idea to make it (the smart manager button) programmable or even have a single press switch orientation and a double press call up the smart manager. Or perhaps just the single press and do without the smart manager altogether.

Video. I'm not a big video person. However, without any upgrade in ram, I was able to play all the videos that I wanted to play and just as importantly hear what was going on. Hulu, msnbc, etc. all seemed to play very well. Both inside the browser and in full screen mode I didn't experience any difficulties. For me this was another big selling point.

Connectors and upgrade potentials. There's a mini express slot, a mini interna1 pci-e (the internal slot that the Amazon specs call it the 3G phone slot.) These are multi- purpose slots that aren't often found in netbooks. If you want to get a sim card for 3G or 4G, then you can do that with the mini pci-e and built in antenna. But many people will put an additional flash drive in that slot instead. You can do both of these on the external mini-express card slot also or you can buy other third-pary add-ons such as a usb 3 adapter for the mini-express slot.

Then there's the vga connector that allows you to connect to projectors or external monitors. There's a separate headphone and microphone jack. There's (2) usb-2 ports and (1) usb-2/esata port (esata lets you connect to hard drives 3x faster than usb-2). There's an ethernet port that lets you connect to printers and anything that is ethernet ready. When you turn the Gigabyte T1000P over, Gigabyte has made the underside of the unit very accessible for upgrading the ram, getting to the pci-e slot, etc. In short this is one of the most upgradeable, versatile netvertible/netbooks on the market.

AWESOME
I bought this Christmas 2009 for myself. I really like the size so much better than a laptop. I does everything just as well and is smaller, lighter, and the battery lasts a lot longer. The touch screen WAS awesome until I dropped it out of my 18 wheeler cab (in it's soft case) onto the asphalt when I was unloading my cab at the house for time off. The screen now has a dozen cracks and has rendered the touch screen useless BUT I can still use it as a regular screen thank goodness. The cracks aren't even that annoying except for the fact that I paid 3 times the price of a regular netbook to have the touch screen. I have really learned to like the left and right click buttons off to the side of the mouse. I usually use the double tap feature for left click on the pad and the button only if it is a technical click and hold/drag kinda thing with my right hand on the mouse and left hand on the button so this works perfectly for me. It really is pretty durable as it has fallen a few times to the floor of the truck. I was worried about the single hinge breaking, but it is durable. I really like the battery that sticks out the back. It makes a great handle to hold onto when in tablet mode especially. Battery life is great at over 5 hours even on bright screen setting. It has 3 USB ports. Plenty of options. Bluetooth. Card reader. Windows 7 starter is fine for my use. Bought an upgrade and never used it.

Complaints... The WiFi turns off every time you shut down and you have to turn it on after you boot every time. Very minor complaint. Wish I had an accidental plan D O H !!!!!

Better off with an iPad
I purchased this Tablet Netbook when I saw that Microsoft had cancelled the netbook that they were working on. I had heard that netbooks were running pretty fast on Windows 7, and I was encouraged by the reviews I had read on this item. My hopes were to: (1) Have a small PC that would be easier to use while traveling, especially on airplanes or on vacations when I only needed to get to email, (2) Use this in meetings to take notes with OneNote (an app that I grew to love many years ago with some older tablets - but they had been too bulky to make using OneNote's handwriting practical), (3) use this as my personal PC (replacing my rarely used MacBook) to store music (iTunes), photos and other personal files, (4) still be able to use all of my Microsoft desktop apps, as well as the Internet explorer browser to get to some web apps that required internet explorer.

This PC was a letdown in almost all of those categories. Here are some of the highs and lows:

Keyboard: The keyboard is a pretty good sized for such a small machine. However, they've made a few decisions about placement of keys (such as the "/" key) that has forced me to spend a lot of time correcting typos. I'll probably get used to that so, overall, the keyboard is "good".

Mouse: The mouse seems similar to most tablet PCs - but I find it very awkward to use (even more awkward than mice that are typically included on laptop PCs).

Screen: The screen could probably be 20% larger. When you open thnis machine, you immediately see a broad border around the screen. The screen surface is also highly reflective - I can't write on the tablet with it lying flat because I see too much light reflection in the screen - so I have to prop up the machine with something. The resolution is very good for a screen this size. Unfortunately, this also means that it is cramming a lot of resolution into a very small screen - fonts are sometimes very difficult for me to read (if you're under 40 and/or have good vision, this may not be a problem for you).

Tablet: The big reason I purchased this machine was because it was a tablet - I could write directly on the screen. However, this screen is sensitive to both touch and to pen input. So, if you rest your hand on the screen while writing, it doesn't work. It appears that the touch capability was intended to make this "ipad like" - where you can click on icons without having to use the mouse or keyboard. Unfortunately, this capability of of very limited utility - the handwriting would be a much better capability (in my opinion), but it is almost useless for the handwriting because of this limitation. I give the tablet screen two stars.

Speed: For the most part, this little machine is speedy enough for most needs. I can use Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint without a hitch (although the screen and mouse problems negate much of this usefulness). However, one of the main reasons I purchased this was to be able to store my music and, on occasion, listen to the music directly off of this machine. When I try to play my iTunes music, there are many "slowdowns" in the music - it's tolerable, but very annoying (especially since my phone can play music more smoothly than this device!)

I sure would like to find a netbook that addresses these issues (or even a low end laptop PC). I believe there is a market out there for individuals who want to stay productive in a Windows environment, but with a very small form factor and tablet capabilities. Sadly, this device falls far short of my expectations for this.

Swiss Army Knife
Where to start? I dont know what this device is but its not just a netbook. It has the power and speed to act as a notebook. It has a near-full size keyboard. Its screen swivels and then turns into a touchscreen kindle-like device. It has the speed to run Windows 7 Professional (you have to pay extra to upgrade from starter). It is fast enough to play full motion DVD video over its wireless N from my Windows Media Center. It can do touch screen with your finger or stylus. Its touchpad has multiple finger actions. You can change from landscape to portrait.

There is a slight hesitation in the CPU when tasked but for the size, cost and intention, the hardware is fast and well suited. I can run Slingbox video streaming while multi-tasking and surfing the Internet. There is a limitation in the video card. It cant run DirectvtoPC or play BluRay video. Its not powerful enough. But so far that is the only limitation I have found. I am not a PC gamer so I dont know if this can handle games but pushing streaming wireless video is pretty intensive.

I thought about getting the iPad but didnt want the restrictions that come with it. I have an iPhone and love the user navigation. It is well thought out and made for non-techie users. This device is not as intuitive but is more powerful, more flexible and can do everything a PC and netbook can do without the size and bulk. The extra size battery is great for additional battery life but does add to some weight and size. One advantage, it acts a handle when running this in portrait touchscreen mode.

Overall this is a well designed, feature rich powerful netbook/notebook/touchscreen/iBook device. I havent tested everything yet but thats part of the appeal for this device. It has a built in camera, SD card slots and VGA hookup I havent tried yet. I highly recommend this device for folks that want it all. And its been extremely stable with full driver support in Windows 7. Kudos Gigabyte.

My TouchNote 1028X
I have an iPhone 3G so when I saw the iPad I thought this is something I would like to have. But I didn't like the fact
that I had no access to Flash. Although Apple has execellent resolution on their products I wanted something more than a glorified pad. So I started looking for touch pads but I wanted Internet access and the ability to run my office programs.

I live in Japan and I wanted my manuals and OS in English. PC Micro Store did not want to ship it to Japan and cancelled my order.
And I would have given less stars, but I had it shipped to FBC USA INC,Gardenia, California in which it was delivered to me in Japan and it only took 3 days to get to my door just outside of Tokyo.

I was a bit apprehensive knowing I was taking a big chance that the product might not be what I expected. The surprise was it lived up to my expectations and more. I ordered the ram upgrade but I intend to go with Windows 7 Ultimate since I need access to the Japanese language having some Japanese software. I was also thinking SSD. No moving parts better battery and hardly any heat from this hard drive.

The resolution is great if not excellent. The sound with headsets is a great joy I think real stereo. There is a bit of a learning curve for the touch screen. Battery life is 5-6 hours if you have proper power management. You really can't go wrong with this TouchNote and the Gigabyte site is pretty comprehensive. I really like this product and I like the brown color which I think is a touch of class. (With battery attached 8in wide 10.5" long and 1.5" thick about 3lbs) The best feature is being able to upgrade memory and hard drive.

The Gigabyte Touchnote is a Great product
I have had the TouchNote for a couple of weeks. It is everything I had hoped for. The screen is good (but not as crisp and clear as my MacBook). It runs app quite well. I really wanted this thing for the touch screen capabilities and these are awesome. I can use the paint tool in Corel Photopaint and it is much better than using a mouse or a touchpad device like Wacom Bamboo. It is like you are really painting. I find myself intuitively clicking with the touch screen rather than the mouse. I thought I would mount a stylus because they are very useful when the pointing has to be more precise than a finger affords. Then I noticed there was one built in. The notebook is very light and the battery lasts forever. There are some built-in apps that are very useful, e.g., an on screen keyboard (for when you have the keyboard folded under for use as a tablet) and a rotator that changes the screen from portrait to Kindle-like landscape. I plan to use this for travel and for image analysis. It is so much easier to draw an ROI directly on an image, rather than using a mouse or external pad. This is a great computer and may see more use than my MacBook. The MacBook overall is nicer, but it doesn't have a touch screen, and is heavier. I was hoping the iPad would be more of a computer than it is. Once I saw how limited it is, I got the TouchNote. 5 STARS baby!

Excellent Netbook in every way.
As a software engineer I am VERY picky about the hardware I use, and the Gigabyte T1028 is truly fantastic. I immediately replaced the supplied Windows 7 Starter edition with Windows 7 Professional, using the supplied driver disk to update hardware drivers. The installation went flawlessly.

In no particular order, here is a list of positive features:
. The T1028 runs very quickly and smooth. Quite responsive.
. The tablet-style touch screen is nearly perfect.
. The display quality is excellent!
. The built-in card reader is very convenient for data transfer.
. USB ports on left and right side is quite convenient.
. Works perfectly with my Logitech VX Nano wireless mouse and external DVD drive.
. The keyboard, though small as it must be, is easy to type on.
. The T1028 is well built...I take it in an out of my car every day and it shows no sign of scratches, loose hinges, etc.

The only minor "con" is that the built-in speaker is low quality - however what can you expect in a Netbook? The audio from the headphone jack is quite sufficient and sounds fine.

Highly recommended!

Very good, though I recommend to upgrades
Hello!

First of all, I should say that I consider myself an average user. I'm not a tech guru, nor am I computer illiterate. I wanted something portable and fun to carry back and forth to school (I am a grad student and I also teach entry-level courses, in addition to a part time office job, and I have a long distance boyfriend I hoped to be able to skype with easily--so portability and versatility were my highest priorities to me.)

For those same reasons, I'm super happy with my purchase.

Details:
So far, I have upgraded to home premium, installed amazon kindle for PC, Office Suite 7, and a LapSync to keep it synced with my (much more powerful) desktop. I plan on upgrading the RAM as well, as others have done, because it's a bit slow opening documents and running more than 2 programs at a time, but with 1 G it's still a neat little machine.

I've used it about a week, between 6-8 hours a day. I email, surf the internet, work on Word, Excel, and OneNoe (often at the same time, which makes it a tad slow), streaming netflix, and reading on Kindle PC. I have horrible eyes, but reading on the back-lit screen for a few hours at a time doesn't bother me so far. It's also heavier than a eReader, but I also haven't been bothered by the extra half pound or whatever.

I should emphasize a few things: this should not be your primary machine. Typing for more than an a couple hours would drive me nuts. (for my wrist and arms) Also, I haven't tried any games on it or anything that takes a lot of power, and I don't think I'll try. I think of it as the computer I carry in my purse, rather than my computer.

Touch screen is fun, but be prepared to routinely calibrate thing if you plan on writing on it alot. I mostly use the touch screen when I'm using it as a reader or streaming video.

Nice but loose screen hinge makes it hard to use
I purchased the T101MT because I wanted to have a touch screen/tablet that I could sign documents on. The touch screen works great with the finger and stylus however the screen is really loose on its hinge. If I use my finger on the screen it just flops backwards, same when using the stylus. The only time that doesn't happen of course is when I'm using it with the screen turned and folded over (using the T101MT as a tablet). It would have been really nice if the screen was a bit tighter.

I'm running a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium and haven't had another issues, aside from the screen being loose. It does everything I expected it to.

If I could give it 10 stars I would!!!!!
I almost bought a 00 Dell tablet - BOY AM I GLAD I CHOSE THIS TABLET INSTEAD!!!!

The Asus Eee PC T101MT-EU17-BK 10.1-Inch Convertible Tablet is one little workhorse of a machine. I have had mine for 24 hours and can't put it down.

I have ungraded the RAM myself - It was very easy to do, and I found a video tutorial on Youtube.

I was able to upgrade to Windows 7 home premium for about 80bucks. Got Acrobat reader and Office Professional Trial, plus Google Chrome, and Netflix player loaded up and they work fine.

Before mods it was a little slow....but since it has been nicely responsive.

The screen is a smidge small but that is exactly what I wanted. I need it light and portable. I plan to stow in my purse and go so I can bring with me to grad school. The main thing I want to be able to do that is annoying on a regular laptop is to read books, articles, and use handwriting to write on word files.

I am planning to get a monitor, and will hook up to my cordless keyboard and mouse for use at home at my desk. This way I can have the best of both worlds.

Read the reviews and watch all the videos about this device so you know how to modify it properly and you will love this machine!!

Nice product. Awful customer support
The product doesnt come out of the box all that great. You need to delete alot of bloatware and I would recommend getting Windows 7 Home Premium and adding a 2nd gig of ram after that this product is amazing. Runs very snappy for a netbook. You get what you pay for and more out of this product. But they have the worst tech support I have ever seen . I was updating my bios and somehow their software corrupted it so I sent it in. Instead of reading the letter we inserted in to what happened they assumed the problem was the ram and they wanted to charge us 95$ to replace it and it took us a month to get it through to them that they just needed to reflash the bios or put a new bios chip in it. The supervisors we talked to said they were emailing (they cant just call the service department they talk through emails) the service department about the bios being the problem but they really werent and it wasnt until we got someone very high that anything was done. They finally tried to reflash it like we said and what do you know it fixed it and it was on its way back the next day. But we had to argue for a month over it and they wouldnt do anything until we paid the 95$ for the ram. AWFUL SUPPORT! BEWARE!

Great netbook/netvertible for the price
This is a solidly built, very capable netbook. I was prepared for a typically sluggish netbook, but its processor's hyperthreading made this one a joy to use. The touch screen works fine, but don't expect an iPad experience, due to the resistive screen. Multitouch commands work, but they work best when using your fingernails not the finger pads. But then Window 7 has a lot of tiny buttons on this 10.2" screen, so using the included stylis would be advised in any case (and works great!).

As everyone else is saying, definitely upgrade to Window 7 Home Premium and a second GB of RAM. I had no problem installing the ram (other reviewers have made it clear how to get the ram recognized).

Kudos to Asus, they made a great little computer.

Very slow and little storage
Is very slow with 1 gb. if you have ipod, can not be used with asus web storage.
the first day the touch screen stopped working

It works ok but it is slow
It seems generally fine, however it crashes occasionally. It is slow which has been reported elsewhere, hence somewhat frustrating. It really struggles with You Tube and Does not work well with Skype as of yet.

I love it
Dont know why anyone would want to buy an iPAD when something like this is available.

Bough this for my daughter, it has its limitations, but it works great.

Greg

Great for my purposes
I am a Kindle user and bought my ASUS M91MT (white - which is not listed now) to read Kindle books using Amazon's free reader software: The price is about the same as the Kindle DX, the LCD screen is *protected* when packed, I get WiFi and full color displays as well as the Kindle books.

I like the password protection.

The solid state hard drive is small at 32 GB but I like its ruggedness a lot. Battery life is not great but I have an external battery for any serious long term use away from power. (This works with my notebook too so it saves the a lot of money spent on a specific PC-dedicated battery.)

The multi-touch screen part is persnickety IMO. Other reviewers have complained about the problem with the screen reading palms - I join in that note. And I wish I could manipulate the touch part for the Kindle reader: I like to touch the left side of the screen to page forward.

A nice touch is the padded carrying sleeve.

I am tempted to give this little feller a five-star rating except for the touch screen. Perhaps part of my touch screen difficulties are due to my lack of experience. I will find out.

Great product. Recommended.
I've had two Asus notebooks prior to purchasing this. One of them is around 5-6 years old and still working fine, albeit slow. The other one is around 1-2 years old and working very well. Because of the notebooks great performance, I decided on getting this netbook although it's much pricier than most netbooks.

It is not a perfect netbook. It has a lot of shortcomings but it does have some great features. I love the touch screen. You have to figure out how you should adapt your writing in such a way that you're not going to end up messing up your notes. It is not the most sensitive thing in the world but that's what I get for the price I paid. Remember, tablet PCs go for more than a thousand dollars. Also, you can't disable the multi-touch feature for all platforms. You can only disable it for windows journal and sticky notes (It's called IntelliWriting). It's weird why Asus did that.

Anyway, I also love the weight. It's very light and so convenient to carry around. Yes, the keyboard is tiny but what do you expect right? I have small hands so I can manage. You just have to adapt with the smallness of the netbook. At least it's only 2 lbs. That's definitely a plus for me. :)

The 1 GB RAM is something I had to upgrade. I tried it out for 2 weeks but it was a little bit hard to use a lot of programs at the same time. Upgrading to 2GB made it so much better.

Probably the worst feature of this netbook though is its 32 GB hard drive space. It is not enough. A lot of it is dedicated to Windows 7 and other necessary programs. I bought an 8GB SDHC (well, its a part of the package with the 2GB RAM upgrade) to expand the drive but it didn't make much difference. You're probably better off with a 32 GB SDHC.

I think I've said enough. All in all, this is a recommended netbook. :)

What it comes down to.
I thought it was a laptop, even though it clearly says netbook, I thought they were the same. I'm not pleased with this item, it does not hold CD's of any type. It's TOO small. The touch Calibration is bad at first. Does not come with Windows 7, and too many items at the bottom of the screen. I plan on returning it and buying the HP Touchsmart tm2.

Junk
Only about 7 months old. The touch screen has already failed. It appears to be a bad connection between the screen and the motherboard. If I pivot the screen, the touch screen quits. I really regret buying this EEE PC T91.

excellent netbook + ebook, pdf reader
this netbook has everything a normal netbook has.

i love the 9 inch screen + size, it only weighs 2.1 lb with battery included

winxp is perfect for a netbook of this spec, win7 is overrated.

ssd hd is pretty fast, battery runs for about 5 hrs.

keyboard is actually pretty good due to its contour shape, i can type >60 words / min on it.

touch screen is very nice, perfect for ebook/pdf/comic book files.

atom z520 is a bit weak, however, it isn't so bad on win xp.

extremely satasfied.

IT SUPPORTS FLASH!!

Great... With some Tinkering
I was initially a bit weary about purchasing a tablet this size and at this price with XP but I decided to take a chance. The 1st time I used the T91 I was very pleased with the responsiveness and accuracy of the touch screen. The unit is quite light and very useful in portrait mode. Before I list the pro's and cons I will say that the only way you will get any enjoyment out of this machine is by loading windows 7 or xp tablet edition. The touchgate software provided is pretty useless, no support for inking in MS office, no journalling software, difficult device drivers and alot of lag in XP. I was pretty disappointed at this point with xp but after I booted windows 7 professional it all changed for me. Inking support and no lag at all. The unit actually runs a whole lot quicker with windows 7 loaded. The ink input and on screen keyboard (even at logon) is priceless. In the preloaded xp its very difficult to navigate using the stylus alone. Battery life is at least 4 hours which is really useful, sometimes even 5. I cant think of any cons, my only recommendation is maybe if you need a little extra speed go for the 2gb dimm, but even without it its quite snappy with win 7. The T91MT is a better choice with win 7 already preloaded. The size and weight are also fantastic, perfect size for your palm and very readable especially in portrait mode. You might have some software niggles but the asus forums are quite useful as no doubt someone has had the same issue before you. Two thumbs up!

OK for the price. Needs minor but important improvements

Looks pretty.Works as it should. Priced well. Touch function works well.
Somewhat slow(I guess OK for the price).
Touchgate with the three floating desktop screens is a dumb distraction and does not add any functionality.
WORST OF ALL,the pen writing in the tablet mode (which was the main reason I bought this tablet)DOES NOT WORK, as the palm touch input is not blocked. This NEEDS to be fixed, including updated software for those of us who bought it without knowing this serious deficiency.
And the User Manual (paper as well as oline) is virtually useless. Does not give any info or suggestions on using the various functions unique to this tablet.
